Emerald City: 2013 Colour Trends

Green front doorSpring has arrived and that means it’s time for a fresh start, new ideas, designs and plans. Even though the temperature may indicate otherwise, now is a good time for spring cleaning or redecorating.

Each year Pantone announces the Colour of the Year which influences the world of fashion, beauty and interior design. This year’s colour is Emerald Green. A little unexpected, a colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony. Green done right is classic and soothing. My top two favourite colours are green and navy so I applaud this year’s choice. But for those of you who like to stay on trend with home decor, introducing this radiant, lush colour to a warm, grey-brown (dare I say taupe) decor can seem a bit shocking and overwhelming to start, so I thought I’d share a few ideas as a guide and inspiration. If painting walls or changing furniture is too much of a commitment, consider using home accessories to add a punch of colour to your decor.
